Planet Happy is one of the coolest and greenest toy stores in Seattle and we think everyone should know about it. Located behind the U-Village off of NE 55th is this little shop that is becoming a weekly destination for kids and parents. It’s not just a toy store but a place to come be creative and play. From their giant art table in the middle of the showroom, where you can draw, paint and make buttons to their organic beauty bar where kids of all ages can make their very own bath salts, lotions or perfumes. Or take a class every Saturday and learn the art of Origami, create a sock puppet or paint a pet rock. Check out their weekly calendar of events and see what stirs the inner artist in your child.
When you are done playing or just need a break from being so artistic, take a look around this store. You won’t find many toys made out of plastic here. Planet Happy’s new owners, Kelly Bell and Kaylene Burger, have created a wonderful product key to help you navigate the world of “green” toys. Whether it’s all Organic, Fairly Traded, Natural, Recycled, Socially Responsible, Multi Use, Green, or Phthalate Free, you will come away with a purchase you can feel good about. Planet happy has truly created a fantastic space to “play, learn and sustain”.
Oh and before you leave the store be sure to say hello to “Little Foot” the resident hedge hog who lives in an old hollowed out recycled T.V. Now how cool is that?
