Bonnie Simmering, , CD(DONA), PCD(DONA)
I love everything about pregnancy and birth and have great memories of each of my children’s births. I believe every woman should be supported in labor no matter how she chooses to manage that process. I have been providing Doula Services to Clients since June of 2002. I have been certified with DONA since December of 2003, and completed my fifth recertification in January of 2019. I believe birth is a unique experience that has life long memories associated with it. I believe women benefit immensely and have better birth outcomes when supported during labor and delivery. As a Birth Doula I have a great passion to help women have the best birth experience possible. My time supporting Postpartum Clients began in 2008, working mostly with families with multiples. This has been a rewarding experience as I support families as they navigate this overwhelming task. I love working with families welcoming twins or more to their family as they learn how to take care of more than one baby at a time.
I have been certified with DONA as a Postpartum Doula since October 2016.
Experience: I have professional and/or personal experience with premature birth, cesarean birth, VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), water births, supporting women with back labor, non medicated natural childbirth as well as women who have chosen an epidural. I also have completed training to support women who have attended hypnobabies childbirth classes. I can bring to your birth my experiences with relaxation, visualization, water therapy, birth ball, massage, and aromatherapy. I have also trained with Spinning Babies, which helps prepare women for labor and reposition babies into a more favorable birth presentation.
I am married and have 6 children and am a native Oregonian. My husband and I are enjoying grandchildren being added to our family. I love the green of the northwest with all of its outdoor recreation. I love horseback riding, hiking, scuba diving, and teaching Sunday School to 1st & 2nd graders at our church.
Once I joined the ItsaBelly Birth Team in January 2008 I occasionally did some postpartum support with a few clients. As time went by and I found out how much I loved helping families navigate this intense time in their lives, especially if they had multiples, I decided to pursue certification. I love working with families welcoming twins or more to their family as they learn how to take care of more than one baby at a time.
