Elizabeth Benz, CD(DONA), PCD(DONA)
I have been passionate about pregnancy and birth for more than 20 years. On my personal journey of pregnancy and birth I found I wanted to help families during their own journey. I am a mother of three (one set of boy/girl twins and a daughter 2 ½ years older). After becoming a Certified Postpartum Doula I knew I wanted to help families with the whole journey: pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
What makes me unique in my doula work is that I have personally been through a twin pregnancy and birth. The support I received from my own doulas has always stayed with me. I found myself naturally supporting many friends during their postpartum times (especially those with multiples). Once my children were of school age I decided to become certified and start helping families professionally. I have a special place in my heart for multiples families and have worked with many over the years. As a doula I offer physical and emotional support through hands-on comfort, position ideas, counter pressure, breathing techniques and many other ideas to help you throughout birth.
Having a cheerleader in the room can give you the boost you need, or a quiet calm presence to help see you through the tough moments. As a doula I adjust to give you the personalized support you need. I also offer partner support. I recognized your partner has a major role in this as well and I will guide and teach to help your partner give the best support. It’s my overall goal to make sure the memory of your birth is a positive, empowering, cherished one.
Personally, I am a lover of books, fiction and ongoing education for my doula work make up most of my home library. I love to bake, a skill my clients benefit from and very much appreciate. I am a huge advocate for self-care and I believe something as small as a walk, or getting a cup of coffee by yourself can make a huge difference towards feeling able to tackle the upcoming day or week. It’s a special experience to support families for birth and postpartum. But my favorite thing is the families that have kept in touch and shared pictures with me of their family making joyful memories and thriving! Ultimately that is my goal as a Doula.
Postpartum Doula Care
As a mother of three I know the value of an extra pair of hands, judgment-free advice, and a listening ear. Those are just a few of the reasons why I became a Doula. I have a set of boy/girl twins with an older daughter. I love working with families of singletons and multiples and I feel that my experience raising and caring for both gives me a unique insight into the importance of having extra care and support in the first few months.

As a Postpartum Doula, I focus on helping families with life after pregnancy. That is accomplished through education around baby care, self-care, safety, and breastfeeding techniques. Part of what makes me a great doula is my ability to assess what a family really needs so they can be at ease and enjoy this time. I know from experience that this time with your newborn(s) is short and my mission is to help families not just survive but really cherish these moments. I want this time to be enjoyed by all and I strive to set up all the families I work with to thrive long after my services are needed.
I have supported many families over the years, many of them being families with multiples. Every time I help a new family I feel very privileged to be able to support them. Getting to know their baby(ies) and understanding what would be most helpful not just to the child, but to the family as a whole.
