Julia MartinJulia Martin – Pregnancy, Birth, and Postpartum Doula Care

As your doula, my intention is to lovingly support you and your family through the birth and postpartum journey with education, compassion, and care. My goal is to help you achieve the kind of birth you have envisioned, all the while being prepared if things go differently than expected. It would be my privilege to help your family transition into parenthood and navigate this next big adventure. Caregiving and connecting with people have always come naturally and I find both incredibly fulfilling.

I received my DONA birth and postpartum training from MotherTree in SE Portland. A few of my birth experiences include cesarean births, natural unmedicated waterbirth at home and at a birthing center, as well as VBAC births. I have also been so lucky to experience this life changing event with five children of my own. Welcoming a new little one into the world is both joyful and scary, with so many questions and uncertainties along the way. Personally, feeling the love and support from those around me during the labor and delivery helped make birth more manageable. I hope that I can give that same kind of support as your doula.

I am one of twelve siblings and have always enjoyed being around babies and children and was often the first to offer my babysitting services to friends and family. As a young adult, I nannied for several families and was exposed to a variety of different parenting styles and family structures. My husband and I are both native Oregonians and live in Portland. Our home is full of teens and a toddler, as well as 2 dogs, 5 chickens, 8 fish, and an axolotl. On the weekends you’ll find us watching kids sporting events, hiking, disc golfing, or playing at the beach.
