By far, some of the most memorable and rewarding experiences of my life, second only to giving birth to my own children and experiencing the blessings that come with that responsibility, have been the moments when I had the privilege of supporting and nurturing families through their pregnancies, labors, and the transition into parenthood with their newborns.
Looking back, I truly believe my journey toward becoming a doula began in late 1986 when I had the incredible opportunity to witness my sister's first child's birth. Little did I know that unforeseen circumstances would draw me into playing a more active role in her laboring process. Despite having no prior experience, my instincts kicked into high gear, and I found myself providing comfort and support during that profound moment. That first encounter marked a turning point in my life, shaping the path I would later pursue in my career and purpose.
